How did you become interested in Chiropractic?

It wasn't until my junior year at Rhode Island College that I really seriously considered it.  In High School I always enjoyed the sciences.  I was also heavily involved in athletics.  I thought then I would get into physical therapy.  When I started at Rhode Island College, I chose Biology as my major, because it follows a pre-med curriculum.  I took electives like kinesiology and physiology because I was much more interested in human health and function over plant biology and environmental type of lab work.  I had set out in my junior year to interview therapists, physician's assistants, and different types of doctors.  The chiropractors I talked to all seemed to love what they did and they were very positive and encouraging.  The more I learned about chiropractic's vitalistic philosophy, the more I realized it was congruent with how I already lived my life.  I knew it was for me.  The January following my graduation from R.I.C., I packed up and moved to Marietta, GA to attend Life College of Chiropractic, which at the time was the world's largest chiropractic school.  As with all major life decisions, I was a little nervous, but from that first day of school to now, I have never looked back.  I thoroughly enjoy what I do.

When did you start your practice?
March of 2001, six months after I graduated, but we always celebrate our office anniversary in May.  I had a very clear idea of how I wanted to practice, so I never sought to work for anyone else.  I knew I would have some help and advice relating to the business aspect of things, so I didn't worry, I just went for it.

Any hobbies/interests outside of the office?
Music!  After Deb and I bought our home, I got back into playing the bass guitar.  That's my biggest hobby now.  I started a band for my 40th birthday and have kept it going.  We play at The Last Resort in Smithfield, Twin River Casino, Misquamicut Beach and are starting to branch out.  We play private parties too. I used to play a lot of golf, but quit that when music took over.  I used to play men's rugby, but can no longer afford to get hurt.  Same goes for indoor soccer.  Two years in a row, I suffered pretty severe ankle sprains.  I got tired of that, so I just go to the gym now.  In general, I like all games, including cards, and especially cribbage.  Most all the reading I do is chiropractic or weight loss related, self-help, business management, or music related.  Also, my wife loves to cook and I love to eat.  Since Luke, Camille, and Blake have been around, my hobbies have taken a back seat.  I always knew I wanted to be a father.  I never dreamed I would enjoy it as much as I do.  I considered myself very blessed.
